What is sensitive attribute?

A characteristic or feature of an individual that may be protected by laws or regulations, such as race, gender, or age

A sensitive attribute is a piece of information about a person that is considered private or protected, and is often used to prevent discrimination or bias in decision-making processes

Think of a sensitive attribute like a personal secret - it's something that you might not want to share with everyone, and you want to make sure it's not used against you

For example, a company might use a machine learning model to screen job applicants, and would want to make sure that the model does not use sensitive attributes like race or gender to make decisions

Sensitive attributes are used in machine learning models to ensure that the models are fair and unbiased, and do not discriminate against certain groups of people

Some people might think that sensitive attributes are only related to demographics, but they can also include things like health information or financial status

The concept of sensitive attributes has been around for decades, but has become more important in recent years with the increasing use of machine learning and artificial intelligence
