What is a leaf?

Any endpoint in a decision tree. Unlike a condition, a leaf doesn't perform a test. Rather, a leaf is a possible prediction. A leaf is also the terminal node of an inference path. Practitioners refer to leaf when building, training, or evaluating machine learning systems. It appears in research papers, product documentation, and technical discussions about AI capabilities and limitations.
